Year 2 Welcomes Special Guests: Make Way Foundation

Year 2 had the wonderful opportunity to meet Fleur, a trustee, and Henry and Molly Bryant, both junior trustees, from the Make Way Foundation, a charity that supports children across the UK who need wheelchairs due to disabilities.

Fleur, Henry and Molly spoke to the children about the foundation’s mission and the important work they do to help children access the mobility and independence they deserve. The visit sparked great curiosity and compassion, with Year 2 pupils asking thoughtful questions such as: What is the Make Way Foundation? What made you want to help children? and What do you dream for the children you help?

The session was not only informative but also a fantastic way for the children to practise and develop their speaking and listening skills through live interviews. A particular highlight was the chance to see a real racing wheelchair up close, as well as Henry’s own wheelchair. Even more exciting, the children got to have a go at wheeling themselves around giving them a hands-on understanding of the experience and challenges of using a wheelchair.

We are incredibly grateful to Fleur, Henry and Molly for taking the time to visit and inspire our pupils with their dedication and insight.
