Unwrapping Ancient Egypt at Haslemere Museum
On Monday, Year 3 went to Haslemere Museum. They discovered exactly how the process of mummification took place and the gruesome details about how the brain and other organs were removed. They were able to see a real mummy along with mummified cats, crocodiles and birds, and a partially recovered Book of the Dead. They were given the opportunity to look at artefacts, some replicas and some genuine, from Ancient Egypt and the day culminated in them ‘mummifying’ a toy of their own, adding amulets for good luck, masks and name tags. It was a great trip enjoyed by all.
