Reception Get Wrapped Up to Learn
Over the last two weeks, Reception have been learning all about the fascinating polar regions. We discovered where the North and South Poles are and talked about what makes these places so cold and special.
The pupils learnt about penguins and other animals that live in icy environments, as well as people who live in cold climates and how they stay warm. We also explored art by looking at the work of Kandinsky and recreated our own masterpieces using cold colours such as blues, purples and whites.
In our practical learning, the pupils worked together to build igloos using sugar cubes and enjoyed exploring what happens when ice melts. This led to lots of exciting observations, predictions and discussions.
It has been a wonderful topic full of creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning, and the pupils have shown great enthusiasm throughout!
