Turning Pages with Maz Evans
On Monday, we were delighted to welcome author Maz Evans to school for a truly inspiring visit. From the moment she began speaking, pupils were completely captivated by her humour and energy. Her assembly offered pupils a wonderful insight into the ideas, creativity, and messages behind her writing.
Pupils took part in a lively Q&A session, where they had the unique opportunity to ask questions of a real author — from where she gets her ideas to how she develops characters and plots. The visit ended with a much-anticipated book signing, making the experience even more special.
The impact has been immediate: Maz Evans’ books have flown off the library shelves, and pupils have been enthusiastically recommending them to one another. Pupils also reflected on how much they loved the underlying messages in her stories. Visits like this play an important role in nurturing a lifelong love of reading, and we are incredibly grateful to Maz for such a memorable and motivating experience.
Maz also gave us an insight into forthcoming books, which have not yet been released, as well as the adaptation of her book Who Let the Gods Out as a theatre production! It is being shown at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon until the end of March. Further information can be found here: Polka Who Let The Gods Out
