Former Prep Pupil Appointed Captain of Great Britain and England Men’s Hockey

Caterham Prep is proud to celebrate the achievements of former pupil Zach Wallace, who has been appointed as Captain of both Great Britain and England Men’s Hockey.

Zach’s remarkable journey in hockey began while at Caterham Prep School, first picking up a hockey stick at just five years old. Those early sessions laid the foundations for what has become an outstanding international career and a shining example of where commitment, dedication and hard work can lead including captaining his country to a medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 at the age of 22 making him the youngest captain of England across all sports.

Zach is one of the most recognisable figures in international hockey. He has amassed an impressive 150 international caps and scored 42 goals for his country, achievements that speak not only to his talent but also to his consistency, resilience and leadership at the highest level of the game.

He has won the world top hockey skills award in 2022 and nominated in the top 5 world players in 2022/2024.

His appointment as captain of Great Britain in addition to England is a testament to the respect he commands from teammates, coaches and the wider hockey world.

Zach’s story is an inspiration to our pupils, showing how the love of a sport can grow into a career representing one’s country on the world stage.

We are delighted to count him among our alumni and look forward to following his continued success with pride.

Huge congratulations to Zach from us all!
