Exploring Safety and Careers with Surrey Police
This week, Year 3 and Year 4 were delighted to welcome visitors from Surrey Police for a special assembly all about staying safe.
The session linked closely to the children’s Digital EDGE learning on keeping safe, as well as to next week’s National Careers Week. The officers spoke about their role in helping people in the community and explained how they work to keep everyone safe, both in person and online.
Pupils were fascinated to see and learn about the equipment officers use in their daily work, and they asked thoughtful questions about different aspects of the job. The visit also provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our Caterham Prep Learning Powers. The officers highlighted the importance of resilience, teamwork, communication, empathy and problem-solving in their role – qualities our pupils are developing every day in school.
It was an engaging and informative assembly that helped the children make meaningful links between their learning about safety and the real-world skills needed in future careers.
