Putting Measurement to the Test

Putting Measurement to the Test

Year 2 have been thoroughly enjoying their maths unit on measuring. They have learnt how to measure the height and length of different objects accurately, using rulers and metre sticks with increasing confidence. The pupils have been developing their understanding of standard units such as centimetres and metres and are beginning to choose the most appropriate unit for what they are measuring.

They particularly loved the opportunity to take their learning outside, where they measured playground equipment using metre sticks and worked collaboratively to ensure their measurements were precise. It was wonderful to see them applying their classroom learning in a real-life context, discussing their methods and checking their results carefully. The pupils have shown great enthusiasm, teamwork and growing accuracy throughout this practical and engaging unit.
