MANDARIN LESSONS BEGIN FOR YEAR 6
Amid much excitement and anticipation, Year 6 began their innovative Mandarin language course this week, using the DragonsConnect learning platform. As well as their teachers in the classroom, children worked live via webcam in small groups with specialist language teachers, all of whom were either native Mandarin speakers or fully fluent. The children and teachers shared their workbooks and were able to work individually or in groups on language tasks. In future sessions, they will also divide into ‘breakout groups’ to work in partners or even smaller teams to practise and develop their speech and writing skills. In between direct teaching sessions, they worked on an interactive language program online, with lessons that they are able to continue and develop at home, via their personal logins.
