The Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week

This week we have been celebrating The Great Big Green Week in the Prep School, which has been all about celebrating the power of acting together to take on the climate emergency. To this end, we have learnt about the COP26 conference which is happening in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021.  We learnt about why this conference was set up, who attends it and what is the purpose of the conference. Many children will be asking how they can be involved or what they can do to help this problem. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. The children (Years 3-6) will be having some class debates which are centred around the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are designed to stimulate thoughts and ideas that will help the students to formulate their thoughts and views.
  2. The children in the Prep School can access further resources about this topic by going to the Whole Prep Team and looking in the channel called: COP26 Our Climate, Our Future. There will be some articles to read and some videos to watch.
  3. We are going to be looking out for one or two children to represent the Children’s Parliament which will be live-streamed (via Microsoft Teams) on Friday 29 October when the children will debate a number of topics before putting one to vote.

Our Eco-Warriors are working hard to earn our Gold Eco-Award, having successfully earned the Bronze and Silver Awards last term.
