Quick Fire Debate
Summer term in Debating Society culminated in an afternoon of quick-fire debates, with very little time allowed to prepare. This meant that members had to draw on their general knowledge and persuasive language techniques to win over the audience on a range of topics, including whether pupils should choose their own subjects to learn at school and the importance of carrying out chores at home. Congratulations to all members on a very successful term’s debating. This term Year 5 Debating Awards went to Jack and Isaac, and Progress Awards to Archie and Nicole. In the Autumn term we will restart with members from Year 5 and 6 attending. They will be able to work towards the great Year 5 v Year 6 competition as well as the House Debating event. Year 6 members will also be able to work towards earning the coveted ‘Debating Colours’ awards.
