A fortnight of Fascinating Visitors!
Over the past two weeks, Reception has been buzzing with excitement as we’ve welcomed a wide range of special visitors linked to our topic ‘People Who Help Us’. The children have had incredible hands-on experiences that have brought their learning to life.
We began with visits from two doctors who showed us what’s inside a doctor’s bag, helped us explore real X-rays, and even taught us how to care for chicken pox using cream and how to use bandages. A plumber and a carpenter also joined us, introducing the children to different tools and helping each child build their very own wooden pirate ship—what an achievement!
We were also thrilled to meet a military engineer who explained how the army helps keep people safe. Together, the children built chocolate bridges to learn about structure and teamwork in a deliciously fun way!
Then came the unforgettable visit from a fire crew, where the children had the chance to spray water from a real fire hose, explore the fire engine, and learn vital fire safety skills like stop, drop and roll.
And we’re not done yet! With visits still to come from dentists, a police officer, and a radiologist, there’s even more learning and excitement ahead. We’re also eagerly looking forward to Pet Week and our upcoming school trip.
What a busy and brilliant fortnight it’s been—Reception really has been learning in the most inspiring ways!
