A Joyful Celebration of The Beatles

A Joyful Celebration of The Beatles

Our recent concert was truly buzzing with joy from start to finish, as pupils came together to celebrate the timeless music of The Beatles. The atmosphere in the Humphreys was electric, with a real sense of excitement and pride as each group took to the stage.

From the opening notes of the Orchestra to the final songs from Senior Singers, the evening showcased not only the breadth of musical talent across the Prep, but also the enthusiasm and commitment of every performer. Each ensemble brought its own character to the programme, whether through the lyrical beauty of pieces such as Yesterday and Here, There and Everywhere, or the infectious energy of favourites like Twist and Shout and Can’t Buy Me Love. It was a wonderful opportunity to see pupils at all stages of their musical journey. Our younger groups, including Blast Off! and Bow and Beyond, impressed with their focus and growing confidence as our pre-Grade 1 musicians. Treble Makers (Years 3 and 4) brought great enthusiasm and energy to their performance, while Junior ETS captivated the audience with their beautiful harmonies.

We were also delighted to include our Harp group, a new ensemble this year, whose performance was truly stunning and added a unique colour to the evening.
The more advanced ensembles, including Concert Band and Orchestra, performed with assurance and musical maturity, demonstrating the progress pupils make as they move through the department. Senior Singers (Years 5 and 6) were particularly polished, delivering their medley with confidence and style.
It was especially pleasing to see pupils performing with such enjoyment, supporting one another and clearly relishing the opportunity to share their music with an audience. The sense of teamwork and shared purpose was evident throughout.

We are incredibly grateful to all the Senior music team and visiting music teachers who contributed so much to preparing the pupils and supporting the performances on the night. Their expertise and encouragement play a vital role in making events like this so successful.

Above all, the concert was a wonderful reminder of the joy that music brings – not only in performance, but in the shared experience of creating something special together. Very well done to all involved for such a memorable and uplifting evening.
