A Knight to Remember!

As part of our big question, “What makes our island special?”, Year 1 have been stepping back in time to explore the fascinating world of castles. Just before half term, the children were delighted to welcome a very special visitor—a real knight! 

The day was packed with exciting hands-on experiences as the children discovered what life was like in medieval times. They had the chance to try on different types of armour and archer costumes, learning how castles were designed to protect the people living inside them. There was plenty of excitement as the children launched bean bags from a trebuchet, testing their siege skills by knocking down a castle they had built themselves. 

The action didn’t stop there! The highlight of the day was an exciting jousting tournament, where the children bravely took part in their very own mock competition. What a great day!
