A Real Hoot in the Classroom!
This week the children have been learning about owls. Year 2 were amazed to learn that a group of owls were called a parliament and that owls are raptors just like eagles and hawks, they catch prey like mice and voles, which makes owls carnivores. After hunting, owls sometimes hide their prey for a snack later, this is called caching. Owls cannot move their eyes, so they need to move their heads to see in different directions. Owls are oviparous, which means they lay eggs and can live up to 25 years! After the Year 2 children learned about owls they worked in groups to make their own owls.
