A season of team spirit!
It’s been a mixed state of affairs on the Netball court this half term, with the weather getting the better of us- frost and waterlogged courts led to several cancelled matches, but we’ve managed to get everyone out for a match or two to round up the season. The U8s have worked hard to learn five positional roles and played RSM and Hazelwood in the Stinger format. With passing and moving improving, Caterham were also able to score several goals- well done everyone! The U9s were hit hard with wet weather resulting in cancelled or adapted games, but when they took to the court, this group played with great determination and sharp shooting- the future looks promising! A final match up with Russell House…
The U11s and U10s have combined forces over the last few games and come away with some fantastic results, notably a block fixture against Lingfield, with Caterham scoring a total of 45 goals. The U11A also participated in the highly competitive iAPS tournament at Brighton College. They won their opening match 5-1, then struggled to find the momentum after a very physical affair against Streatham and Clapham High. It was a day of learning and gaining experience to play against a wider group of schools.
With a glimmer of sunshine, the U11/10 CD squads travelled to Russell House on Wednesday afternoon for a friendly match up. The Cs made some great interceptions but struggled to capitalise on shooting opportunities. The Ds played with great determination, and it was end to end through the first two quarters. Caterham gained momentum and some sharp shooting from Zoe M, took the win 3-1.
The U9ABC had a great fixture against Lingfield last Thursday afternoon, scoring 35 goals across the three teams, a tremendous effort. Sadly, they were halted yet again, by the wet weather and unable to play against Russell House this week. We hope for a dry spell as the girls now turn their attention to the football pitch.
