Blast Off Takes Off!

Our pre-Grade 1 ensembles, Blast Off and Bow & Beyond, have got off to a fantastic start this term.

Pupils in both groups have been working hard during their weekly rehearsals and are already making an impressive sound together. Blast Off, our brass and woodwind ensemble, is currently learning Jupiter from Gustav Holst’s famous suite The Planets, tackling one of classical music’s most recognisable melodies with enthusiasm and confidence. Meanwhile, Bow & Beyond, our string ensemble, has been developing the fundamental skills of ensemble playing while enjoying the excitement of making music together for the first time.

Anyone near the Music Department on a Thursday or Friday morning will have heard the sounds of these young musicians hard at work. It has been wonderful to see pupils growing in confidence, listening carefully to one another and developing the teamwork that is at the heart of successful ensemble playing.

We look forward to hearing both Blast Off and Bow & Beyond perform in the Autumn Concert on 24 November.
