Camilla Bowry OBE Visits Pre-Prep to talk shoes

The Pre-Prep pupils were visited this week by Camilla Bowry OBE, the founder of Sal’s Shoes. They learned about the charity, which was established upon realising that children often outgrow their shoes before they outwear them, and that feet in shoes are protected feet. Shoes protect feet from injury and infection, and in areas with low sanitation, they help prevent the spread of infection.

The charity was set up in 2013, and in its first year, it collected just under 5,000 pairs of shoes. Eleven years on, Sal’s Shoes has now found new feet for over 5,000,000 pairs in 61 countries around the world, including increasingly here in the UK.

The pupils were encouraged to sort out their old shoes and place them in the special Sal’s Shoes collection bin, which will be in the school playground when we return after the half-term break.

Thanks Camilla for visiting us and well done to the children who asks some really super questions!
