Chinese New Year in Reception
Reception have been celebrating Chinese New Year this week and learning about all of the different ways it is celebrated. We have been lucky enough to watch some Dragon dances and make our very own lanterns – this was a challenging activity as we had to weave different parts of the lantern together, but we persevered and made some beautiful creations.
We also discussed the tradition of the Wishing Tree and throwing an orange, with a wish attached, onto a Banyan Tree in the hope it “stuck” on a branch and came true. Some thoughtful wishes were made for our friends and family, from eternal life to happiness and sharing more time together.
