Cosy Reading and Character Fun
We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day across the school, with both Pre-Prep and Prep pupils fully embracing the spirit of reading.
In Pre-Prep, pupils arrived in wonderfully cosy outfits, from pyjamas and onesies to dressing gowns, ready for a day centred around books and reading. Throughout the day, they enjoyed a range of activities including making bookmarks, completing book reviews and designing their own cosy reading spaces. The celebrations ended perfectly with hot chocolate and some relaxed cosy reading time together.
Meanwhile, Prep pupils arrived dressed as their favourite book characters and took part in a variety of engaging activities. Year 6 enjoyed World Book Day maths challenges and held a lively Heroes vs Villains debate, with The Lorax and Bob the Minion emerging as the winning characters in 6B and 6M. Prep pupils also took part in a special reading carousel, choosing a book to listen to read by a member of staff who does not usually read to them in class.
Pupils were also introduced to their Class Reading Scrapbooks, which we hope will be fully embraced by classes – the Reception ones are already looking wonderful!
It was wonderful to see the day so enthusiastically embraced by both pupils and staff, with fantastic costumes, engaging activities and, most importantly, a shared love of reading.
Well done, everyone!
