Empathy: Building Life Skills

Empathy: Building Life Skills

This week we marked Official School Empathy Week 2024 in our assembly programme.  We explored what empathy truly means and how it differs from having sympathy for someone.  We linked this to our Collaboration and Empathy Learning Power and talked about ways to develop our own empathy skills.  We found out that high levels of empathy help to reduce bullying, promote happiness and are an essential part of being a good leader and that research shows those who have high levels of empathy are generally happier, healthier and more successful in life.  All pupils are on a mission to increase and improve their skills of empathy as it is definitely something we can learn as we move through different stages of our lives.
