End of Term Debate

End of Term Debate

Over the last few weeks, Debating Society members have been practising their persuasive writing skills.  Each team wrote to a member of the Prep School management team to propose a change that they believed essential to the future of Prep School.

Proposals included having a pet in each class, abolishing the 11+ entrance exams, establishing a film club, making school lunches more internationally diverse and increasing the amount of art education in the curriculum.  In turn, Mr Purkiss, Mrs Moore, Miss Stone and Mrs Funnell responded with some robust challenge questions which members then had to defend in a live debate with Mrs Hudson and Dr Sharpe.  The audience voted for whether they felt society members had argued their case successfully. Great fun was had by all, and Debating Society will finish next week with a fast-moving Christmas word games event.

Congratulations to all members of the society for their hard work, extra efforts and all round great debating this term!
