Global Looks Local with vistas from Viewpoint
Year 3 kickstarted their study of ‘mountains’ as part of their Global Citizenship curriculum with a walk up to a local landmark – Viewpoint. From here, they observed the landscape as it descended towards the M25 and across to Gatwick Airport. They discussed new vocabulary and tried to predict how cartographers would represent different heights on a 2D map. Upon returning to school, they were excited to discover that they had been standing at 210 metres above sea level by examining maps with contour lines.
