Globe Trotting Quiz Success

Globe Trotting Quiz Success

Last Friday, three Caterham Prep teams travelled to take part in the much-anticipated Caterham Senior School’s Globe Trotting Quiz, competing against several local prep and primary schools.

Our pupils had been preparing diligently for several weeks, taking part in regular practice quizzes and building both their geographical knowledge and teamwork skills. Their enthusiasm and commitment were evident throughout the competition.

The event itself was a lively and engaging afternoon, lasting around two hours and featuring a range of challenging and creative rounds. Perhaps the most gruelling, and certainly the most memorable, was the hands-on task of constructing a volcano and demonstrating tectonic plate movement using playdough. This required not only subject knowledge but also collaboration, creativity and resilience under pressure.

After a closely fought competition, we were delighted to see one of our teams achieve an impressive second place, with another team finishing in a very commendable fourth place. We narrowly missed out on the overall trophy, which was deservedly awarded to Banstead Prep School.

We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who represented the school so brilliantly, demonstrating excellent teamwork, perseverance and a genuine love of learning.

“It was fun and challenging; we made models and answered questions on paper. It was a great experience”

“It was fun and challenging. I was sad that it was going to be my first and last time doing it. But my favourite part was answering the questions on rounds 1 and 2 and getting all of them correct. This year’s Globe Trotters is going to be a memorable one.”

A huge thank you to the senior school Geography department for hosting such an enjoyable and well-run event. Thanks also to Ms Tosh, who accompanied the teams and provided fantastic support and encouragement to our pupils throughout the afternoon.

It was a wonderful experience for all involved, and we look forward to taking part again next year
