Globetrotting Prep

Global Citizenship is a fantastic area of curriculum in which pupils are able to explore a topic in depth, looking at its historical, geographical and religious features.

Year 3 have been on a Roman Adventure this term, looking at all things Roman. They are very much looking forward to their Roman Day which is coming up soon. In preparation, they have been learning about a Roman battle plan and drawing it out on a map.

Year 4 pupils have been studying all things environmental. They are passionate about saving our environment and are right in the midst of creating a film advertisement, allowing them to become digital story tellers and raise awareness for climate change. The pupils have written their own scripts, completed their own filming and are now in the editing stages of this project. We are all looking forward to seeing the results.

Years 5 and 6 have been learning all about the polar regions. They are currently creating short film documentaries about the race to the poles. Splitting each class into teams they are investigating different explorers. There was great excitement with the recent discovery of Shackleton’s Endurance ship which has been located at the bottom of the Weddell Sea. This find has made the documentaries even more topical!

“In Year 5 Global Citizenship lessons, we have recently been learning about the Polar Regions. We are making a book creator full of the information we have been learning about. Global Citizenship allows people to be taken to another world; it can put you in someone else’s shoes.’ – Mia
