Great start to the hockey season!

Great start to the hockey season!

The astro was full of energy on Tuesday afternoon, with the U8s hosting Hazelwood in another round robin of hockey matches.  With plenty of support from the balcony, the girls worked well together, looking for space and going for goal! They have continued to work on their ball-carrying and tackling this week and will then travel to Copthorne on the 14 October for their next match play.

Year 5 and 6 combined on Wednesday to face Lingfield and Russell House.  The A team had a physical encounter, with some excellent defensive play and passages of play through the midfield.  Determination on the ball led to Caterham’s first goal and they were unlucky when Lingfield capitalised on an interception to draw level.  Not beaten, Caterham broke through again to take the lead and held on despite a flurry of penalty corners for Lingfield, Caterham’s defence held strong. Well done! The Bs followed up, and it was a game of end-to-end hockey, with some super drives down the wing, the defence from both teams prevented any goals.

At home, the Cs and Ds had another productive afternoon against Russell House with both teams taking on feedback from their coaches on the day.  Plenty of goals were scored with Cs taking a 3-2 victory and the Ds a 2-2 draw.  Well done!

Next week, teams will be combined again to play away at Copthorne (BCD), please check team sheets carefully.
