Ladder Leadership
This week in Outdoor Learning, Year 6 have been developing their leadership skills and taking control of a group while ascending the Jacob’s ladder. They had to go through a series of safety checks, make sure the correct techniques were being used while belaying and safely control the climber’s descent through instructions and watching the belayers. They all showed excellent knowledge of the safety rules when climbing and were very attentive of the groups under their control. The children also had the chance to continue to practise their belaying, back up belaying, coaching and climbing skills throughout the session. Next lesson will see them transfer these skills to the crate stack where teamwork will also be a key element!
