Netball Fixture Round Up

Netball Fixture Round Up

The Year 3’s travelled to Reigate on Tuesday afternoon for Flier Netball.  They were mixed into 3 teams and played a round robin of matches. We had been working on our attacking skills to date and the passing and movement around the court was great to see.  This week’s focus for all year groups has been our player defense- thinking about body position, staying with our opposite player and securing the ball on interception.  The Year 3’s made a great effort, with some great interceptions and attacking drives to the goal- there were plenty of goals scored in all the matches, Caterham came out on top for a second week running- well done everyone!

A number of sixth form netballers joined the U11 and U10 teams on Wednesday afternoon, to share their enthusiasm of the game and helped to coach and umpire matches.  The Prep girls thoroughly enjoyed having the senior role models to guide them through the afternoon and Caterham came away with some fabulous results: U11A (11-4), U11B (9-4), U10A (10-5) and U10C (4-0) all won their matches this week.  It was all square at the start of the final quarter for the U10B, but RSM had a strong shooting unit to close out the match to take the win.  A commendable effort by the U11C team this week, with some great interceptions and linked passes, the girls dug deep throughout the whole match and limited the RSM shooters in the final quarter of the match.  Well done on a very chilly afternoon!

The grey skies and drizzle didn’t stop the U9As on Thursday afternoon coming away with a great win over RSM; sharp shooting and great teamwork resulted in a 9-4 win. The B’s (6-10) and C’s battled hard in their matches right to the final whistle, with the C’s scoring 4 goals in the final quarter and preventing any RSM score- it just wasn’t quite enough, losing 7-10.
It was a tough opposition for the D’s this week as they faced a goal hungry Reigate team.  Keeping up with the quick turnovers was a challenge, but there is still lots to learn and we look forward to more development in the Spring term.  Well done everyone!
