Reception Visit the Nature Kitchen

Reception Visit the Nature Kitchen

This week, the Reception children have thoroughly enjoyed making the most of our wonderful new outdoor area during their exploration time.

There was lots of excitement around the new planters, with many of the children incredibly keen to help plant a selection of herbs. They carefully planted them and talked about what they will need to help them grow. The children were particularly excited to discover that, once the herbs are ready, they will be able to pick them and use them in their play in our new Nature Kitchen!

Mrs Maynard set the Nature Kitchen up beautifully, and it was an instant hit! The children had THE best time collecting and using natural materials to create all sorts of delicious imaginary treats. We had pizzas topped with leaves and herbs, freshly mixed ‘lemonade’ and lots of other interesting creations being prepared and served!

As part of the exploration, the children also used natural resources to create some wonderful nature pictures of their families. They carefully selected leaves, sticks, stones and other natural materials to represent the different people in their family. It was lovely to hear them talking about who they were creating and explaining their choices as they worked.

Throughout the week, we have seen so much imagination, creativity and teamwork in Reception, alongside some wonderful conversations and shared ideas. Our new outdoor area is already providing so many exciting opportunities for the children to explore, create and learn through play, and we cannot wait to see where their imaginations take them next!
