Snuggle Up with a Good Book!
As you are probably aware by now, 2026 is year is the National Year of Reading, a wonderful celebration of books, stories, and the joy of reading for pleasure. It aims to inspire children (and grown-ups too!) to make reading a daily habit and to discover the fun, adventure and imagination that can be found between the pages of a book.
With National Storytelling Week also taking place next week (Saturday 31 January to Sunday 8 February), now is the perfect time to pick up a much-loved picture book, dive into an exciting adventure or two, step into a classic fairytale, discover a new author, or simply snuggle up for a bedtime story,
The excitement has already begun in Pre-Prep, as the children enjoyed a short, fun presentation from Mrs Jackson on Friday, who explained what the National Year of Reading was all about. She set out our mission to try and read every day; the children were excited about how much fun and adventure they were going to have on their reading journey this year.
There are lots of reading treats planned across the school, so keep your eyes peeled and look out for our new Virtual Reading Library which is coming very soon. We cannot wait to turn the page on another big year full of stories!
