Sugar Savvy and Food Energy Workshops

Sugar Savvy and Food Energy Workshops

The Pre-prep pupils have been busy learning about healthy eating habits and the importance of a balanced diet. Through fun and engaging food workshops, run by our caterers Chartwells, the pupils were able to develop important life skills that would serve them well into adulthood.

Pupils in Reception explored the concept of energy in foods, learned how to make their own energy balls (see below for the recipe to make at home), and discovered the role of different ingredients in providing energy. This hands-on experience was a great way for the pupils to understand the importance of healthy snacking and develop their creativity in the kitchen.

In Year 1 and 2 the pupils learned how to be sugar-savvy, with a focus on identifying hidden sugars in foods and making healthier choices. This was a vital skill in today’s world, where sugary foods and drinks are prevalent, and the school was proud to equip the pupils with the knowledge and tools they needed to make healthy choices.

These workshops not only offered a fun and engaging way to learn about food and nutrition, but they also provided a foundation for lifelong healthy habits.
