Tidy Up Time in the Outdoor Classroom

Year 5 and 6 boys’ fixtures may have been cancelled this week due to the weather but this didn’t stop the boys getting outdoors and putting their teamwork, communication and cooperation skills to the test in the outdoor classroom. After a number of trees were felled due to Ash Dieback, lots of work needed to take place to restore the forest school to its former glory. Year 5 managed to clear away 3 big piles of branches while Year 6 worked together to create the outlines of paths! A great achievement by all the boys involved.

All the pupils will get the chance to help over the coming weeks meaning we can all take pride in helping to make our outdoor classroom a place for inspirational learning again!  Next door, the replanting of the woodland has started with varieties of native saplings already planted in fenced areas to protect them from hungry deer. The first volunteer teams from the school and local community will be joining the effort next week to plant new trees to line the school lane. Great work everyone!
