World Book Day is Coming!
Thursday 4 March is World Book Day. Although we are learning virtually, we will still be celebrating with a week of assemblies and activities linked the theme of this year’s book week: ‘In The Picture’. The inspiration for this theme is the idea that all children deserve to see themselves represented in books and that the books we share with them reflect the wonderfully diverse world we live in. Not only is it empowering for children to see themselves represented in books, but it also helps them to understand the world around them.
In assembly each morning, we will be sharing a story that reflects this theme. We are lucky to welcome a number of guest speakers, who will talk to the children about the book they are reading, and why it is an important story to them.
On Thursday, World Book Day itself, we encourage children to dress up as their favourite character from a book, although this is, of course, optional. This year, we particularly encourage emphasis on home creations!
