Year 2 String Scheme Concert
Year 2 delighted us all yesterday with a joyful and confident String Scheme Concert, showcasing the fantastic progress they have made in just one term of learning. Performing to an appreciative audience, the children demonstrated growing technical control and a real sense of ensemble playing.
The programme included a varied selection of pieces, from the lively Jig to the bluesy rhythms of Manhattan Blues, alongside well-loved favourites such as Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Hedwig’s Theme. Each piece highlighted how quickly the pupils have developed both their playing skills and their ability to perform together as a group.
We were also treated to some inspiring individual performances from pupils who have been taking individual lessons with our experienced Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs), who work across both the Prep and Senior Schools. Lucy (viola) gave a thoughtful performance, Rosie (cello) impressed with her playing, and James (double bass) performed with great confidence. Annika (violin) also played with real style, rounding off a wonderful set of contributions from our young musicians.
Parents who would like to explore individual music lessons can find further information here. We are also looking forward to the children having the opportunity to begin learning brass and woodwind instruments as they move into Year 3. Individual Music Lessons – Caterham School
It was a truly enjoyable concert, and we are very proud of all the Year 2 pupils for their hard work and enthusiasm.
