Year 3’s Woodland Adventures Under the Summer Sky
On Friday after school Year 3 stayed for an evening of fun and frivolity, teamwork and tomfoolery, mayhem and madness.
To start with, they were put into teams and given some plain white fabric. The teams created flags to represent their characters, all small woodland animals, and there were some wonderful ideas. Roshan said ‘ I enjoyed making the flag the most because it gave us the chance to be creative’.
The teams were then pitted against each other in a water game, with the added challenge of being shot by teachers with water guns, as they tried to move water from one bowl to another. With the warm weather, this was a wonderful way to cool down. Khyan agreed, ‘I enjoyed the sponge water game because it was unique and fun not to mention that the teachers sprayed us with water.’
Moving across to the outdoor area, Thomas the chef had prepared a feast for us all. Once supper was over, each team was challenged to create a den for their animal that was going to be tested for waterproofness and strength. Again, the inventiveness of the children was amazing – some lucky animals had swimming pools and slides. Alex enjoyed the den building the most because they were working as a team.
The children were amazing. There was competitiveness but really good sportsmanship and manners, and it was a lovely way to end the year together.
