Year 5 Visit Bough Beech Reservoir

Year 5 Visit Bough Beech Reservoir

Our Year 5 children had a fantastic time on their recent trip to Bough Beech SES Water Reservoir! The visit was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about where our water comes from and what happens to it before it reaches our taps.

The children discovered that water from the reservoir needs to go through a careful treatment process to make it safe for us to drink. They learnt about the different stages involved, including removing dirt and tiny particles from the water, filtering it and using processes to remove harmful germs and bacteria. They were fascinated to discover just how much work goes on behind the scenes to make sure we have clean, safe drinking water at home and at school.

The children listened carefully, asked lots of thoughtful questions and enjoyed seeing how science and technology are used to treat and prepare our water. It was also a lovely opportunity to talk about the importance of using water wisely and not wasting it.

It was a fun and educational day, combining hands-on learning with a chance to explore the beautiful surroundings of the reservoir. The children were enthusiastic throughout and had a wonderful time learning all about our water supply!
